Head of EUNA Relations (f/m).

Mission of the Position

The Head of EUNA Relations (Western Europe, North America and Australia) reports directly to the Chief of Staff (COS) within the CEO Office and plays a key role in the cooperation with General Secretariat (GSC) and the respective Member Associations (MAs). The Head of EUNA Relations will be responsible for enhancing the exchange between and among the GSC and the MAs in EUNA, based on direction from the Management Team (MT). The Head of the unit supports EUNA MAs in integrating common federation standards, best practices and strategic directions into their decision making, as well as contributing to federal knowledge building.

Tasks and Responsibilities

1) Organisational Interface and Governance Leadership

  • Represent EUNA MA stakeholder interests to the federation, in particular to the GSC (for example, prioritisation of function topics, input to overall strategy development);
  • Ensure strong cooperation between key stakeholders: i.e. EUNA Member Associations, the GSC International Directors and Competence Centres;
  • Support change activities in the implementation of federation standards such as organizational or governance structures;
  • Oversee and facilitate EUNA MA-GSC Management Team meetings and events, ensuring that they are well-prepared and followed-up, relevant for all stakeholders and engaging;
  • Oversee and facilitate the on-boarding processes for new EUNA MA executives and board members, taking care to create a customised and comprehensive introduction to the federation.

2) Relationship Management

  • As Relationship Manager, represent the federation to EUNA MAs in order to build lasting partnerships and fluid and constructive cooperation among key stakeholders.

3) Lead and develop EUNA Relations team

  • Coordinate and lead services as described in the EUNA Relations Function Description and Service Catalogue;
  • Provide leadership and management to members of the EUNA Relations team;
  • Maintain and develop cooperation between the GSC Competence Centres.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in International Development, International Humanitarian Affairs, Social Science, International Relations or related field (an undergraduate degree combined with comparable senior experience would equally be considered);
  • More than five years operational experience in mid/senior management with leadership responsibilities preferably gained in a civil society/non-profit institution;
  • Comprehensive business awareness, and the ability to conduct critical analysis and to integrate information;
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills; able to influence and convince in non-hierarchical relationships;
  • Able to think long-term and beyond one’s own area as well as being focused on the improvement of key results;
  • Proven record of profound experience in governance work, planning and strategy; well acquainted with needs of fundraising and constituent engagement activities;
  • Proven multicultural/international experience and cultural awareness;
  • Ability to build strong relationships/networks and to work and cooperate effectively and in a spirit of partnership with peers, partners, stakeholders and others who are not in the line of command;
  • Excellent English language skills (written and oral) are essential;
  • Knowledge of any other language is a distinct advantage such as German, French or Spanish.
